Dr. Jennifer Elemen is an award-winning education leader who designs and facilitates professional learning, creating transformational change for equity, justice and joy with educators, youth and communities. She leads digitally mediated learning for the 21CSLA State Center at UC Berkeley School of Education and serves as president-elect of the California Council for the Social Studies. She is a BeGLAD Certified Agency Trainer and previously served on the California Department of Education’s State Literacy Plan Team, as a director, administrator, consultant, coach, and teacher leader. She has a record of improving equitable achievement at the classroom, school, district, county, and regional levels. She writes and presents, cultivating critical literacy and equity-centered leadership, collective efficacy and organizational improvement while elevating civic and community engagement, learner voice and agency. Key to her approach are liberatory practices for belonging, deeper learning, innovation, and reimagined futures.
